BNHA: Spiritual Aura

Chapter 325: Try to stay alive.

--Saturday, August 1st, 2172

Before the sun's rays came out, Aizawa went out to jog around the area to study the surroundings before waking the students for their training. Although the Pussycats and several UA heroes had checked the mountain from every angle, he equally couldn't feel completely at ease unless he did it himself.

But unexpectedly, Aizawa ended up spotting Kai in a small clearing in the distance, sitting on a rock in the middle of the forest in a lotus position with his eyes closed in a state of deep meditation. Two cats were sleeping in his lap.

Upon seeing him, Aizawa stopped in his tracks and stood watching Kai from afar, who breathed in a slow and deep manner. Something that, for some reason, gave Aizawa the feeling that he was in perfect synchrony with the surroundings.

Somehow, it was as if all the trees and small animals in the area moved and breathed in sync with Kai's breathing—even he himself found he was involuntarily following it. But while he noticed his breathing, Aizawa also sensed that the air had become oppressive and dangerous, though differently from what happened when Kai used that strange intimidation of his.

It was more as if the environment itself was warning his subconscious directly that he must not break the almost miraculous rhythm surrounding Kai's meditation, or he would pay dearly for it. Though the feeling was vague, it still caused enough discomfort in Aizawa to make him move away to check other areas, until he finally returned to the camp.

But upon doing so, Aizawa couldn't help walking with a hint of curiosity into one of the gyms in the facilities to take a look. Just as he expected, Aizawa found things slightly out of place and the treadmill and other machines with a slight residual warmth—something that inevitably brought a smile to his face.

“A worthy son of yours, Iron Palm—a complete training addict… Though I suppose that monstrous strength can only come from a 'madman' like that…”

With a somewhat nostalgic smile on his face, Aizawa murmured to himself as he stepped out of the gym and closed the door, at which point he proceeded to sound the call to wake all the students.

As the first rays of light peeked through the trees, the students of Class 1-A gathered in front of Aizawa, some of them visibly drowsy. At that moment, Aizawa, with his hands in his pockets, announced in a slightly more energetic voice than usual.

“Good morning, everyone. Starting today, we will begin training to increase your strength, with the goal of getting you ready to obtain your provisional licenses. But to be honest, the main objective is to prepare you for increasingly real hostilities. So let's get started—Bakugo.”

At the call, Bakugo looked at Aizawa in silence. Aizawa pulled a ball from his pocket and tossed it toward Bakugo, who caught it in midair while looking at Aizawa and speaking in an unusually calm voice.

“This is the aptitude test ball…”

“Your previous record, right after you started at U.A, was 705.2 meters. Try throwing it; let's see how much you've improved.”

“Oh?! Are they measuring our progress?!” Mina, setting aside all her drowsiness, couldn't help commenting, filled with enthusiasm. Sero, who was nearby, added with a smile.

“So much has happened these past few months; I’m sure we’ve improved a lot!”

“Do it, Bakugo!”

From the back, Kirishima cheered loudly. At that, Bakugo smiled predatorily, took a running start, and hurled the ball, creating a brutal explosion at the last moment while shouting out loud.

“Go to hell!!!”

As a shockwave pushed those nearby a step back, the ball shot off at great speed over the trees while the students watched with curiosity. But after a few moments, Aizawa announced in a calm voice.

“790.6 meters.”

“What?!”

Bakugo couldn't help exclaiming with visible disbelief, since, although he hadn't gone all out, his arm was still throbbing painfully—so much so that he'd figured it would reach at least a kilometer. At that moment, Aizawa explained with a strange, sadistically mocking smile.

“As you all can see, while you've certainly improved, the change isn't dramatic. Therefore, starting today, we will focus on improving your quirks. It will be so grueling you'll want to die—but try to stay alive, understood?”

Upon hearing Aizawa's words, the students couldn't help swallowing hard, but at the same time, Mina and the rest of the training group exchanged glances with a certain confidence shining in their eyes.

Training their quirks was nothing new to them—in fact, it was a fairly significant part of their training every weekend, and they had genuinely been on the brink of death a couple of times. But the results had been stellar.

Though they hadn't measured it specifically, each and every one of them was certain that they were now at least twice as strong—if not more—than when they'd entered U.A.

At the same time, Kai's Spartan training was absolute madness, so much so that they seriously doubted Aizawa or U.A. could make it any worse. That blue-eyed bastard was effective, but he was insane.

Just as they all arrived at that realization, for some reason they felt their backs go cold with a chill, which made them turn around—only to find Saito Kai emerging from the forest with two cats on his shoulder.

As sheepish and evasive smiles formed on the young students' faces, Aizawa looked at Kai for a few seconds before calmly ordering.

“Saito, we're at a class camp; you need to wear the uniform.”

“Alright, I'll be right back.”

Kai replied in a calm voice as Momo gave him a warm smile, which he returned. At that moment, Iida wanted to raise his hand to scold him for arriving late, but upon seeing Kai's cold eyes fixed on him, he decided to stay silent. If the teacher in charge wasn't saying anything, it was better to keep quiet—he really had no desire to be knocked unconscious so early in the morning.

In the second campsite, Class B made their way through the forest half-asleep, led by a tall man in a red hero suit with white hoses connected to a device on his back and equally white gauntlets. In a firm voice, the man—whose lower fangs protruded from his mouth and who wore a yellow visor—commented as he walked.

“Last semester, Class A took all the attention, so next semester it will be Class B's turn. Understood?! It won't be Class A; it will be us!”

Upon hearing the teacher's words, the more competitive young men of Class B couldn't help shedding a few manly tears while exclaiming, filled with shame and determination to improve.

““Sensei, we're sorry for being a disappointment.””

“Even if you say we're going to improve our quirks, how do we do it? We all have different quirks.” At that moment, a young woman with straight green hair couldn't help asking as she looked at the teacher, who replied in a firm voice.

“When muscle fibers are overused, they break down and become stronger and thicker. The same happens with quirks. If you keep using them, they'll grow stronger—and if you don't, they'll atrophy. In other words, there's only one thing to do! Push past your limits!!”

By the time the teacher finished speaking, the group had finally reached a clearing, where they found a wild scene that made the young students open their eyes in disbelief. In different spots, one could hear cries of anguish, brutal explosions, and terrifying sounds of tearing and rupturing—enough to make several Class B students take a step back.

In the back, Bakugo was plunging his hands into boiling water for a few moments before pulling them out and creating a brutal explosion into the air while screaming in pain—then immediately shoving them back into the water.

Not far away, Todoroki was submerged inside a metal barrel of boiling water, rapidly alternating between freezing and incinerating everything around him in quick succession, causing terrifying shockwaves from the drastic temperature changes.

Farther away, Sero was letting out large quantities of tape from his elbows while screaming in pain. When it seemed like he couldn't produce any more, he forced himself to create just a little more in order to snag two enormous rocks. Using a thick tree as a pulley, Sero began lifting the rocks in sets of ten before releasing the tape again.

For his part, Iida ran all over the place, running his engine at full throttle, followed closely by Kaminari, who ran with an enormous electric generator on his back that discharged the equivalent of several lightning bolts through his body. Compressed weights were also visible on Kaminari's wrists and ankles.

At the same time, Kirishima was engaged in a fierce high-speed sparring match with Ojiro—the young man with the large tail—that was leaving craters all over the place, while both wore compressed weights. Not far from there, Koda Koji, the young man with the jagged, rock-like head, was shouting into the air at the top of his lungs to extend the range of his voice for animal control. He was pushing his vocal cords to the absolute limit.

Curiously, a blue portable toilet stood in the area, near which Aoyama Yuga was firing laser beams into the sky while his legs trembled. Not far from that spot was a mountain with a dark cave, from which terrifying sounds could be heard—the product of the fierce battle between Tokoyami and his Dark Shadow.

At the base of the mountain stood Jiro, who had what appeared to be several metal rings on the “cables” of her Earphone Jacks and was using them to shatter rocks. She wore vests and compressed weights on each limb, and every couple of minutes, she performed a kickboxing routine in the air.

The same gear was worn by Mina, who performed acrobatic movements not far away, completely surrounded by a thick, highly corrosive layer of acid at least ten centimeters deep, like a second skin. So corrosive that even her uniform and weights, specially treated to resist her corrosion, were beginning to show damage.

On another mountain, Uraraka Ochaco wore a belt that sent her spinning uncontrollably through the air while various rocks weighing tons orbited around her like planets. The same mountain that was being scaled by Tsuyu Asui using only her fingers while carrying an enormous rock with nothing but her long tongue.

Near that mountain stood Rikido Sato, eating pure sugar while working out with weights. Not far from there was Momo, who, after drinking a vial of super-saturated nutrient solution, began creating a large number of weapons while performing a full martial arts training routine with compressed weights on her body.

Though while carrying out her high-speed training, Momo was forced to dodge what appeared to be floating compressed weights, which shortly disappeared—at which point Mezo Shoji appeared, creating multiple eyes from his tentacles. He and Toru were “playing” a high-speed game of hide-and-seek to practice their respective abilities.

“What on earth is this hellhole…?”

Staring at the scene that seemed ripped straight from a nightmare, one of the Class B students couldn't help murmuring, visibly terrified and stunned. At that moment, the teacher in charge of Class B—Sekijiro Kan, also known by his hero alias Vlad King—commented in a firm voice, watching everything with his arms crossed.

“Those of the emitter type will need to raise their maximum limits. Those of the heteromorphic and other composite types need to train the parts of their bodies related to their quirks. Normally this would happen gradually as your bodies grow…”

“But we don't have time.” At that moment, Aizawa approached and finished Vlad King's words, then added, with his hands in his pockets.

“Class B, hurry up and get started.”

“… But once we join together, there'll be 40 of us total. Can just 6 people handle the quirks of that many people…?”

At that moment, a beautiful young woman with orange hair from Class B couldn't help but ask with visible doubt. In a calm voice, Aizawa replied while casually sidestepping Kaminari and Iida as they ran past.

“That's why we brought them.”

“That's right!!”

At that instant, a cheerful and melodious female voice rang out nearby, and Tomoko landed right in front of Aizawa with an enormous smile and her hands on her hips, promptly announcing in a bright, sing-song voice.

♪ “The four of us are always one.” ♪

♪ “Always dazzling and in the spotlight” ♪ Shino appeared and sang cheerfully, followed again by Tomoko.

♪ “We've come to lend a helping paw.” ♪

♪ “Appearing out of nowhere…” ♪ Chatora added in a deep and dangerous voice, followed closely by Ryuko, who chimed in with a playful and cheerful voice.

♪ “Sharply cute and catlike” ♪

♪ “““Wild Wild Pussycats””” ♪

“““Complete Version”””

The quartet finished their presentation, striking their iconic poses, at which point each one began to introduce themselves and their quirk, still holding their pose, starting with Tomoko.

“Ragdoll, quirk: Search! I can learn all the information about anyone just by looking at them; including their location and weak points!”

“Pixie-bob, with my earth flow, I can create perfect training grounds!” Ryuko spoke energetically, followed by Shino.

“Mandalay, with my telepathy, I can give advice to everyone at once!”

“Tiger, and my job is to throw punches and kicks.” Chatora finished his part, and they all stood before the Class B group, who were left completely speechless.
