Chapter 405 - 418: The Innocent Are Naturally Cleared
Mu Wanxin listened to her chatter, the corners of her lips slightly raised. She took a sip of the water, drank half of it, and then handed it back to her, saying emotionally, "Jingjing, you’re becoming more and more like a housekeeper. Don’t worry, don’t you know my drinking capacity? Drinking this much is no problem."
"Alright, alright, really, taking my good intentions for granted. See if I’ll care about you in the future," Feng Jingjing pretended to be angry and then sighed, "Well, but I’m afraid that in the future, even if I want to care, I won’t have the chance. Your Wenxuan is more of a caretaker than I am."
"Alright Jingjing, I know you mean well," Mu Wanxin got up and gave Feng Jingjing a hug. This best friend of hers had always been the one who cared for her the most.
"As long as you know. Alright, go rest for a while, I’ll go out and see, call me if you need anything." Feng Jingjing said, tucking Mu Wanxin in again before walking out.
Feng Jingjing went back to the hall and headed straight to the drinks area, got a glass of juice, and while she did, she put half a tablet into it. After the tablet completely dissolved, she walked towards Shen Wenxuan.
"Young Master Shen, have some juice to sober up."
Shen Wenxuan glanced at Feng Jingjing, took the juice and drank it, then casually placed the cup aside and asked, "Is Wanxin alright?"
"Still fine, just drank a bit too much, feeling a little dizzy, and was worried you couldn’t handle things here, so she asked me to come and check," Feng Jingjing replied.
"Dizzy? Where is she?" Shen Wenxuan felt a pang of guilt as soon as he heard that Mu Wanxin wasn’t feeling well.
He should have stopped her from drinking all this alcohol tonight. At the very least, he shouldn’t have let her follow him around drinking. There were so many guests tonight, even one drink per person was quite a lot.
"She’s in the dressing room," Feng Jingjing said, unsuccessfully hiding the worry on her face.
"I’ll go check on her," Shen Wenxuan said, greeting Mu Xingfeng before heading straight to the dressing room prepared for Mu Wanxin.
With a "click", the door opened. An Ran, thinking that it was Yin Qianxue returning, stood up to speak but saw Shen Wenxuan in a sharp suit.
"An Ran—"
"Wenxuan ge—"
They both spoke at the same time, both a bit surprised.
"Wenxuan ge, why are you here?" An Ran asked, puzzled.
"Where’s your elder sister?" Shen Wenxuan, seeing An Ran’s slightly awkward attire, still inquired despite his mind being on Mu Wanxin.
"Elder sister didn’t come here?"
An Ran had just finished speaking when there was a "click" outside the door.
Shen Wenxuan’s face darkened, and he turned to open the door, only to find it had been locked from the outside.
An Ran also heard the sound. Seeing Shen Wenxuan’s stiff back, she knew what had happened.
She turned to open the window, but it was sealed shut.
"An Ran, stop. Since someone wants to lock us in here, how could they leave the window clear? The innocent are innocent, there’s nothing to fear." Shen Wenxuan’s voice sounded from behind, suppressing a chilling coldness.
An Ran lowered her arms. She knew, if someone had premeditated this, how could they let them escape easily? Besides, there were guests outside. Anyone climbing out the window would cause even more suspicion.
Rather than that, it was better to sit and wait. Soon enough, someone would come to open the door once they couldn’t find Shen Wenxuan, the main guest. Plus, Mu Xingfeng wouldn’t stop looking for her if she disappeared.
But, everything was too simply thought out. In no time at all, Shen Wenxuan’s face turned red, beads of sweat covered his forehead, and his breathing became rapid.
