Chapter 20 - 24: A Pair
Mu Xingfeng looked at her unguarded appearance, a trace of softness flashed in his cold eyes. He endured the pain, using all his strength to turn his body and hold the girl in his arms.
The girl wiggled a little, seemingly finding a comfortable position, and then quieted down.
Mu Xingfeng looked at the girl's delicate eyebrows and eyes, her long eyelashes like small brushes, dense and lovely, her small and straight nose, and her rosy small mouth, with the corners of her lips slightly upturned.
The moment the girl entered the water, he recognized her. The little girl was still as willing to help others, still completely unguarded, even towards the person who had once hurt her. He remembered the look in the little girl's eyes when she saved him. She probably didn't recognize him, did she?
It's understandable. The light was so dim that day and it was in the car. It's reasonable she didn't see him clearly. He believed if the little girl had recognized him back then, she'd probably have pushed him into the water to drown without hesitation.
Thinking of this, he tightened his arms around her. He never believed in fate, but at this moment, he felt that his encounter with her was a fated arrangement.
Just then, there was a noise in the woods, along with voices, seemingly reporting something.
Mu Xingfeng deciphered that the rescue team had arrived, and he silently breathed a sigh of relief.
With his physical fitness, staying here until dawn was not an issue, but the girl in his arms was burning with a high fever. He could wait, but he was unwilling to let the person in his arms wait.
His arm instinctively tightened around the girl in his embrace.
