Chapter 353: They Were Raised Well
After reheating their takeouts, Lariette and Ruediger had dinner in the living room, sitting on the couch. The TV screen showed an old animated movie of their choice, currently playing a scene of the child protagonist chasing after the wicked orphanage director.
The movie was outdated, but beloved by people within the pair’s generations. It told the story of a young boy, abandoned by his parents at an orphanage which infamously known for missing children.
Despite his sorrow, the boy formed a new friendship with his fellow orphans. They vowed to uncover the mystery, which led to a crucial discovery.
The seemingly angelic orphanage director was a devil in disguise! He sold the orphans into slavery for money!
Narrowing her eyes, Lariette remarked, her voice so dissatisfied, "This bad guy is just like that chairman. Using people as he pleases. He never repents."
Ruediger chuckled upon hearing Lariette’s comment, amused as she lumped the villainous cartoon character with his estranged father. Her displeasure for that man was remarkably evident.
"Yeah, they’re similar," he wholeheartedly agreed, laughter still lacing his voice. Wanting to soothe her, he added, "Both will meet their bad endings."
Lariette huffed, then poked through the garlic butter shrimp on her plate using a fork as if impaling it. Grumbling, she complained further, "Hope his pillow stays hot all year long. Humph!"
Ruediger’s shoulders shook as laughter rumbled in his chest. Lifting his hand, he patted Lariette’s head, "Don’t worry. All the bad things will come his way."
