Chapter 345: Do You Really Want to Punish Me?
The pair of lovers went inside the manor after having another round of strolls in the yard, their cheeks flushed from the cold. No longer with teary eyes, giggles and smiles bloomed on their lips.
Not long after, Chairman Delaney woke up from his afternoon nap. Lariette and Ruediger stayed for a while longer with the elderly man before returning home around five.
"We’ll come again, Grandpa," Lariette hugged Chairman Delaney, all smiles from having an enjoyable visit today, "Don’t miss your daily walks and medicines, okay? I’d ask Aunt Helga if you didn’t follow the doctor’s advice."
"Grandpa, take care," Ruediger also gave Chairman Delaney a hug, "We’ll come to visit you again. And listen to Lari, okay? Lest she’ll come nagging at you."
Chairman Delaney groaned, clearly saying he never wanted that to happen. Sweeping his gaze from Lariette to Ruediger, he said, "Don’t worry about this old man. You two, take care of yourselves. Don’t get sick, okay?"
Despite how young and fit Lariette and Ruediger were, Chairman Delaney couldn’t help but worry. He remembered some of his friends’ young grandchildren and great-grandchildren had fallen ill due to the cold weather.
"Hehe, okay~ We’ll stay out of the cold."
"Bye bye, Grandpa. I’ll make sure to bundle Lari in layers."
Soon, the navy blue truck left the manor, the golden rays of the setting sun reflected on the metallic surface. By the time they arrived at the apartment, the sky turned dark.
Lariette and Ruediger only had a simple dinner that night before they settled on the couch. Cozy in a dark knit sweater, he sat with his legs slightly apart, relaxed. She curled beside him, her legs draping across his lap.
As Ruediger watched the documentary played on the TV, Lariette read an online comic on her phone. Then, sometime later, she put her phone down and gazed at him.
