Chapter 330: I’ll Forgo a Quiet Night
The blue hues of the sky had turned indigo by the time Lariette and Ruediger left Suit & Tie. Only a few streaks of magenta, amber and ruby dyed the skyline before darkness consumed them.
"Later, Maddie."
"Bye~."
The pair booked a cab, politely refusing when Madeline offered a ride. Sitting in the passenger backseat, they silently watched the scenery roll past outside, the view becoming a blur.
The orange glow of the streetlamps poured into the vehicle, flickering on them. Neither spoke as they sat in silence with only music playing by the radio. The driver also didn’t talk much to them.
"Home sweet home~"
Ruediger chuckled upon hearing Lariette’s declaration once they arrived at the apartment unit. Stepping past the door, the familiar view of their home welcomed them back from their weekend getaway.
"Someone’s excited," Ruediger mused, watching Lariette slip her feet into her bunny slippers, "Less tired today, huh?"
"Can’t deny that," Lariette giggled, her eyes curving into two crescent moons as she looked at Ruediger, "How about you, Eddy? You didn’t have to drive for hours after all."
Ruediger simply answered Lariette with a meaningful smile, eliciting her to laugh. The pair walked further inside, tummies full of delicious food and hearts full of joy.
Lariette disappeared into her room while Ruediger did the same to his. They both craved a hot shower or a soak in the tub after a long day outside. Still, they felt better because neither had to sit in the truck for hours.
