Chapter 291: Captivated by Me?
"Now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for! Awards and gifts!"
More excited gasps and applause filled the air. Without delay, winners from various events were called up to the stage. The lowly-hanging sun still shone brightly on them.
A group of sixth-graders climbed onto the stage to receive small medals and gift bags. An eighth-grader proudly hoisted a plastic trophy above her head, receiving cheers and applause from her parents and friends.
After announcing the top winners for each grade, Principal Smith gave a heartfelt speech. He thanked the teachers for their hard work, the parents for their support and the students for their cooperation.
"Sports Day is never about winning or losing," Principal Smith said, his voice warm and filled with pride, "It’s about spirit, community and coming together. I’m proud to say that’s exactly what we did today."
A wave of applause followed. Lariette clapped her hands softly, a satisfied smile tugging on her lips. She glanced at Ruediger who stood beside her. They exchanged a cheeky smile.
Before Principal Smith left the stage, he cheerily announced the cleanup session. The students groaned, eliciting laughter from the teachers and parents.
Still, everyone moved, working side by side. Some picked up litter, others dismantled tents and stacked the plastic chairs high.
Lariette nudged Ruediger’s arm, "It’s your favorite chore, Mr. Househusband."
Ruediger laughed, amused by Lariette’s remark. He nodded with one brow arching, "Time to redeem my defeat."
"Hahaha! How are they related?"
