Chapter 121: More Meaningful When She’s by His Side
When it was time to head to the counter, Ruediger brought along the apron with the little red bird embroidery. He smiled teasingly at Lariette whose cheeks almost resembled the color of the bird.
"I will pay!"
Lariette hurriedly tapped her card on the payment terminal machine once the cashier announced the total amount of their purchases. She grinned triumphantly at the sight of Ruediger’s helpless smile.
"Lettie, we can take turns paying, you know."
Ruediger said to Lariette as he shouldered the reusable shopping bag, glancing at her who also had one. They walked away from the counter, back to the summer heat outside the grocery store.
Chuckles spilled from Lariette’s lips. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she smiled at Ruediger, "Hehe, alright~ The next time we’re shopping for groceries, I’ll let you pay."
Ruediger nodded once, refraining from looking too eager. He liked the idea of going shopping for groceries with Lariette again.
It was a mundane task, only to be meaningful when she was by his side.
Ruediger and Lariette walked down the pedestrian walkway, going back to Lumina Spring. The sun dipped more than before as the hour changed. Still, the summer heat blanketed the city with its warmth.
The laughter from the nearby playground was louder than earlier. Most likely more children played there compared to before.
"Lettie, the school where you’re teaching," Ruediger suddenly said once they reached the apartment gate. His eyes landed on Lariette’s face, "Is it in that direction?"
