Chapter 28
Karl feel his stomach was straight-up protesting, hungry vibes echoing in the room like they were straight-up mocking him. "Damn, I need to eat before tackling this quest," he muttered while cracking open a pack of instant cup noodles.
As a seasoned brokie, Karl was used to living on a budget. Splurging on fancy food was just not in the cards for him.
He poured hot water into the cup noodles, sealed it shut, then waited a few minutes while pondering.
His thoughts were interrupted by a notification from Zoey popping up on his phone. "She thinks I'm a beta male? After turning her boyfriend from a thug to a cuck?" Karl snorted cynically, eyeing his cup noodles that were slowly puffing up.
The annoyance faded a bit when the aroma of the instant noodle soup wafted over. Karl grabbed chopsticks, stirred the noodles, and started slurping up the broth.
While eating, he mused, "What dark secrets does that bitch hold?"
Karl sighed. "Oh well, deal with Zoey later. Right now, it's all about getting my fill," he said, continuing his meal with a slightly rejuvenated spirit.
After finishing his cup noodles, Karl felt energy starting to flow back. Even though his meal was simple, it was enough to fill him up. He tossed the empty wrapper aside and tidied up the room briefly before sitting back down.
His mind drifted back to Zoey's message. Karl pulled out his phone, reopening their conversation and analyzing the message more closely.
"Beta male?" he mumbled, furrowing his brow. "Why's she always so irritating!? I should've just fuck her yesterday!"
Karl knew Zoey saw him as weak for often backing down and avoiding conflict.
