Chapter 51 - 50: Undead vs Corrupted Spirit.
Dungeon: 60th floor.
The Night Lich turned its skeletal head, the dim green flames in its eye sockets flickering with intelligence. Their escape route was blocked.
Their enemies stood before them, yet none rushed forward like before. Instead, they remained eerily still, their glowing eyes fixated on them. The air was heavy with the scent of burning roots, molten stone, and lingering death.
A dry, echoing chuckle left the Night Lich's jawless mouth.
"It seems we are being underestimated."
The Abyssal Dread Knight stood silent, gripping his massive greatsword with both hands, his crimson eyes burning in embers. Next to him, the Void Phantasm flickered, a shadow barely anchored to this world, its presence warping the surrounding air.
"....More...time.....to.....prepare..." the Void Phantasm rasped, its voice like a whisper from beyond the grave.
With an almost weightless movement, the phantasm materialized one of its mantis-like scythes and slid it across the Abyssal Dread Knight's greatsword, leaving behind a small mark.
"This battle will depend on the two of you."
The Night Lich's bony feet scraped against the stone floor as he walked toward the Abyssal Dread Knight. Without hesitation, he climbed onto the undead abyssal knight's back.
"What are you doing?....."
