Creed didn’t think. He just ran.
His legs pushed off the cracked ground as hard as they could, his shoes slamming against the dirt with a frantic rhythm.
Beside him, Lilith moved with inhuman speed, her body a blur of purple lightning and raw power.
Behind them, the twins had already split off in another direction, their figures vanishing behind the ruins of broken buildings and collapsed stone walls.
It was a gamble—who would the curse chase?
There was no logic to it. No pattern. No way to predict what would happen.
And then, just as Creed dared to hope it might go after the twins, a horrible, guttural screech ripped through the air. A sound so unnatural it made his skin crawl.
The curse had chosen him!
Creed risked a glance back, and what he saw nearly made him trip over his own feet.
The creature was gaining on them. Its long, grotesque limbs swung wildly, its clawed hands digging into the ground with every step, launching it forward in jerky, horrifying bursts of speed.
