Chapter 13: Close combat mage
While he was killing this wolf, the seventh wolf had fled without looking back and had already crossed tens of meters by the time Alex had finished dealing with this one. Although it was only a magic beast at the common beast rank, its speed was still pretty fast as it zigzagged through the forest.
But this wasn't a problem for Alex. The space element was rare and overpowered, thus the reason why it had very few spells; the lightning element was different!
At the Adept rank and the Core rank, mages could use four spells!
Facing the direction that the wolf had run in, Alex's eyes glowed with purple light again as the stars of the lightning element appeared behind him. This time, however, there were ten stars; he was about to use a core spell of the lightning element!
The stars connected quickly and formed two-star patterns before releasing energy into Alex's body.
"Lightning charge," Alex called out the name of the spell in a soft tone, ferocious arcs of purple lightning flickered around his black robe and mask after he called out the spell.
Just as the name of the spell implied, Lightning Charge was a movement spell that would allow a mage to move as fast as lightning for a short period.
After casting the spell, Alex slowly took a step forward and disappeared.
Woosh!
His speed was mind-blowing as he turned into a streak of black and purple light as he sped through the forest and approached the frantically fleeing wolf.
Thankfully, he was a core mage and his vision was able to keep up with his speed so he didn't crash into any of the surrounding trees and carefully avoided them.
