But the array absorbed their spells without a trace, like stones sinking into the sea.
In the next moment, light flashed from the tower's top, and several beams of light descended, striking the apprentices attacking the door.
They vanished in an instant, without even time for a scream.
Seeing this, the crowd in front of the tower recoiled in panic, retreating to a safer distance.
