Chapter 14. Beginning of the Fall [3]
"You know, Your Highness, I was extremely happy that day and even decided to comply with Her Majesty's threat but..." Pope Eugene squatted down and continued while looking me straight in the eyes, "...both they and the water sovereign betrayed me."
The sword that I was pointing at him had already drooped down in shock hearing that My parents, whom I thought to be the kindest and most understanding people ever to exist, gave a person a threat to his loved one's life just to keep a secret.
Thoughts inside my mind were racing at an abnormal speed with numerous questions, but everything went silent the moment he said they betrayed him.
"Five Years Later, when I was in the church doing what I usually did, I was informed that my house had caught on fire due to a Monster attack. I hurried back as fast as I could to see Natalie, Rio, and Rhea but when I arrived at the scene, did you know what I saw?"
"...What?"
"The house was indeed burned down by fire, but that fire wasn't that of a monster's fire. It was an alchemically created fire that was only available to a handful of people in the entire world. A Fire that only goes out after it burns down its target to ashes and the target of that fire was... was..." Pope Eugene stuttered, and for the first time throughout our entire interaction, his eyes showed any human emotion which intensified and manifested the dark energy around him into existence for a moment but quickly disappeared as it never existed in the first place.
"...At that time, when I reached there, their bodies were still burning even though they had long taken their last breath and the Royals were present there, looking at them with dead eyes-"
"STOPPPP!" I lost my temper when he accused my parents of being a Murderer, "...You are lying, there's no way Father and Mother would do something as heinous as that!" My sword was already at his throat and a line of blood could be seen running down his neck. "If you ever try to accuse My parents again falsely, I will make sure on my name that you won't see the sun the next day!" I made my words sound as threatening as possible and even though I knew that I couldn't defeat him right now, my anger was getting the better of me.
"...Pfft! Hahaha," Even when the sword was pointed at his neck, Eugene laughed like he heard the best joke in his life and spoke as his eyes turned black, "Splendid, Splendid, Your Highness! I underestimated you. The Chivalry, Courage, and Righteousness that you have shown me today, I haven't expected that to be shown by a ten-year-old! I am sure Rhea and Rio would love to meet you, So..."
Sensing the danger, I instinctively pressed the blade harder onto his neck to finish him off, but he grabbed the blade with his bare hand and continued speaking while abyssal energy was emanating from his whole body, stronger than ever before, "...Would you mind meeting them?"
