The Greatest Mecha

Chapter 62: Soto’s Past

The nurse, Abigail looked up at the projection of the mech the young man had finished within the span of three months. "This is amazing but can it really be compared with a real mech." She said in an interested tone, she was not a zealot when it came to mechs though she did take an interest in them in the past. She was not sure if the virtual mech was the same as a real mech to her it felt like a waste of time.

Alto smiled from where he sat up on the bed having his nutritious breakfast, "Well when le I can’t say it will be the same, it is substantially the closest I’ll ever get to the real thing at this moment."

Abigail sat next to his bed her eyes still looking at the design, something about it drew her attention and she could not quite place it yet. "So does this mean you’ve finally become a mech designer like the professor?"

Alto could not suppress the laugh that escaped his lips, he looked at her and said. "I don’t think just having one simple design done makes you a mech designer and I am no where near the professor’s level. I still have to create a couple of real mechs and sell them, it’s a hassle to even think about it. I don’t really know what the future holds for me now."

Abigail could not help but sigh and nod. "Do we all really?"

Alto knew that despite what he considered to be small feats his future to being an actual mech designer depended on the professor. He had two seniors he could not overshadow and besides did they really build mechs? Now that he thought about it the mech divisions used the same models they had been using for years, since they did not go to war there was no need for the designers to function and if they ever did would Alto ever be given recognition.

Abigail drew his attention with her next question and said. "So how is it that you spend the past months looking like a walking corpse and now you acrylic look very healthy and different."

Alto ate his food diligently, he pretended to be oblivious to the fact that she had addressed his new look. Alto had seen it also in the mirror, he appeared to be a bit more younger and healthier than he was before using the gene booster elixir. "Different how?"

"You look younger," she said boldly.

Alto feigned ignorance and chuckled. "That’s ridiculous, we both know that I’ve been working tirelessly for the past two months."

Abigail gave him a heartwarming smile, "That’s true, but I can’t be easily mistaken now can I? I have been monitoring your health for months now."
