Chapter 32: The Angle
Alto had just been asked the most ridiculous question yet, what was his angle but what did that really mean. What did angles have to do with selling old mech designs.
The voice on the other hand laughed in a softly, "What’s your fling, your game plan. Of I see it now, you are a very amusing businessman who butters up his customers. I have to admit it’s not bad but you will have to try better."
Alto was not even trying anything and this young man whoever he was was already dictating the pace of their conversation. Alto wanted nothing more than to be done with this person, he did not want to say a word more but this person apparently liked to talk a lot.
"I apologize for being a bit hasty but can we get this business transaction on the way, please." He hoped his client would consent.
The person on the other end sighed and then said. "You intrigued me Bob, can I call you Bob." Before Alto could object the person continued. "You seem like a Bob, so I’ll call you Bob. First you try to butter me and now you want to be done with me, but I feel you."
"No, if you really feel me then we’d be done with this foolish discussion and talk business already." Alto kept his own comments reserved within his inner voice.
The voice continued, "You can call me mister E for now. So here I was having a hot bath and one of my men tells me they saw your offer. You want to sell not one, not two but three prehistoric designs."
Alto was finally glad that they were back on page, he tried to sound more business minded and strict also while keeping his made up accent up. "Yes."
Mister E continued. "I noticed you set your price as negotiable, might I ask why you made this decision. I believe any real salesman would have put a price at least."
