Chapter 632: Recruiting Zhao Ji
She had just gotten ready and was about to leave with her husband.
Zhao Lu had already received news about the possible zombie tide attacking th city.
So, he was preparing to join the battle team to head towards the edge of the city.
"Uh! Miaomiao, come on in. I didn’t expect you to visit." Lin Wan said with a smile as she stood to the side with a warm smile and let the girl pass.
Even though Chu Miao was now the sect leader, the people who had interacted with her from the beginning treated her differently.
They just treated her like a teenage girl and didn’t want to burden her with the reminder that she was a leader all the time.
They understood that even though she appeared mature for her age when dealing with things, she was in the end, still a young girl.
"Thanks, Sister Wan." Chu Miao said with a genuine smile as she walked in.
"I think you will have to change how you address us because it complicates the generation gap. Little Ji insists on calling you Sister Miao. If you call me sister as well and am his mother, it makes it awkward." Lin Wan said with a laugh.
Others may think that she was trying to take advantage of Chu Miao and establish seniority, but Chu Miao knew she was telling the truth.
That boy was stubborn and insists that she was his sister who saved him and he had to work hard to protect his sister.
No matter what anyone said, he refused to listen.
Besides, although Lin Wan and her husband appeared young, they were actually in their thirties, while Chu Miao was still a teenager. So, it wasn’t a loss to call them auntie and uncle.
Without any burden, Chu Miao smoothly changed how she addressed them.
"Auntie Wan." She didn’t feel taken advantage of at all.
"Yes yes yes. Sit down, I’ll make you something to eat." Lin Wan was so happy that she was almost flying.
"No, Auntie Wan, I just had breakfast. I came to talk to you and uncle about something." Chu Miao hurriedly stopped her from going to the kitchen.
Just then, Zhao Lu came in from the bedroom with their son in tow.
"Sister Miao." Zhao Ji ran over to Chu Miao happily as soon as he saw her.
Chu Miao smiled and ruffled the hair on his head into a bird nest before stopping.
"I came to talk to you about Little Ji. His cultivation has advanced too fast without an opportunity to stabilize his foundation. I can tell that he is also about to break through to the foundation establishment realm and has been suppressing his cultivation. However, he won’t be able to do it much longer because his spiritual energy is almost completely saturated. He needs to fight to stabilize his foundation." Chu Miao first let this information sink before speaking again.
"You want him to join the fight against the zombie horde?" Zhao Lu immediately caught on to what Chu Miao wanted.
Lin Wan, however, was shocked and Chu Miao could tell that she was very resistant towards this idea. But she didn’t object immediately.
Even though she didn’t want her son taking risks, she also knew that Chu Miao would never do anything to hurt him.
"Yes. This is a good opportunity for those who have been cultivating without a solid foundation to stabilize their cultivation. Even the superpower users with shallow foundation will have to fight. However, I want to hear your opinion." Chu Miao didn’t force the issue, but gave the two the power to decide.
It was their son, after all.
However, before Zhao Lu and Lin Wan could speak, Zhao Ji already spoke.
"I will fight. Those ugly monsters want to invade the city sister created. I won’t let them." This child was so concerned about the city getting overrun by zombies that he didn’t stop to think about the dangers involved in such a battle.
"Zhao Ji!" Lin Wan shouted at her son for the first time.
Zhao Lu remained silent for a while.
"Mom, I want to be as strong as Sister Miao, but I can’t be strong if I stay at home. I have to fight to get stronger." Zhao Ji explained.
Even though he was only six years old, he was more mature than children his age.
In fact, young children in the apocalypse don’t have the nativity of small children anymore.
If they were raised like children in the peaceful times, that would just be harming them.
Tears started forming in Lin Wan’s eyes, but she blinked them back immediately.
Yes, if she wanted her son to survive better in the apocalypse, he had to get stronger. Otherwise, he would just become a meal for the zombies.
She didn’t have the ability to protect him. So, what right did she have to stop him from fighting for his survival?
"Alright. He can join the battle. But it would be best if he is in a place I can watch him." Zhao Lu agreed after some thought.
"No. That will distract you and it could be very dangerous for you. Don’t worry, I will watch him and won’t let anything happen to my first loyal follower." Chu Miao said with a laugh, ruffling the boy’s hair again.
"He...he..he..hee...sister said I am her first follower. I am so great." The boy jumped around happily as if being a follower was a great achievement.
The others in the room laughed despite the situation.
"Alright, I will leave him to you." Zhao Lu said seriously.
He also understood that Chu Miao could protect his son better on the battlefield than he could.
So, he didn’t argue.
"Alright, little guy, go get ready for battle. Remember, give it your all on the battlefield and watch for enemy sneak attacks and friendly fire." Chu Miao advised.
Even though she would watch him, she didn’t want him to become a reckless fighter who didn’t know to eat h his back while in battle.
She wanted him to be an all-round fighter.
