Chapter 486: Passing the Blame to Others to Feel Less Guilty
[That’s right. The knights can take the blame since it was their job to guard the whole duchy. Now all we need is to find a way to silence Dimo.]
Sonia and the Head Butler were both relieved that Duke Olivier thought of it as the knights slacking off in their job.
’That’s what you think. I’m not done yet,’ Arabella internally smirked.
She still had a lot to say to indirectly suggest that Sonia and the Head Butler may have something to do with what happened to Dimo.
"Oh, and by the way, does your family have a history related to magic?" Arabella asked Duke Olivier.
"No. Your Majesty. I haven’t heard of my parents or grandparents having any magic abilities. My son though, seems to be able to use magic, so perhaps, my late wife’s family may have had it in the past and it manifested in my son," Duke Olivier explained.
"That’s true. When we found Demetrius the burn marks on his skin were from his own fire. He’s able to use fire magic unconsciously. When he woke up, he was in a panic and was hysterical. He thought we were trying to kill him, so he begged for his life but at the same time released fire all around him," Arabella added.
"That was really magic?!" Sonia couldn’t stop gasping.
She did not know Duke Olivier served as the Princess’ guard and adviser in Medeus just to acquire books about magic from the King of Loranne.
"Yes. I heard Demetrius seems to have a lot of mana which was why it can be triggered by his emotions easily," Arabella added.
"I see. He did accidentally set fire to a huge part of the castle the day he ran away. He often had nightmares, so he probably had one that day... Oh my, could that be why he ran away? Maybe, he did not want to be scolded? But we did not even scold him when he accidentally set fire to his room just a day before that." Sonia wanted to make Dimo look bad.
