Chapter 20: Understanding Her
¤●¤
William Basker Darkmore kept his intelligent eyes on his mate. When he first set his eyes on her, her orbs were hollow and lost to the world, like she had given up on life itself, there were tears too... Streaming down like endless water. She was pale and looked closely like a skeleton. Humans... They always find a way to mistreat themselves and ruin their very nature. That was the very reason he disliked descending the Mortal Realm.
But there was no way he could turn a blind eye just yet for he had a goal which he spent half of his life trying to fulfill, for the first goal was ’her’ and he has obtained his fairy... and the next he does not know what enthralls...
Basker, his mentor wasn’t very specific, the old man always likes his riddle but this particular one was the clearest he has ever gotten. After 700 centuries of wandering the mortal realm each century with the limited time he was given in other dimensions, he has finally found her. His fairy...
The moment he laid eyes on her he knew that she wasn’t just his salvation but destined to become his bride for eternity. ’Eternity’ he thought, if he would mention that to her she probably would have passed out.
She was new to this world and what her future holds. He narrowed his eyes beneath his mask and not wavering his heated gaze on her... there were many... many that her future enthralls... that was why he would prepare her for it, she has to be ready and along the way, she would fulfill her duty to him, but first.
He tilts his head to the side, he has to understand her.... for he does not want what happened at the bathhouse to happen again, he had offered to bath her and he saw nothing wrong with it, her body belongs to him and every way possible, her entire being was his... but she does not know that yet, that was why when he realized that bathing her was him crossing a line...
He almost mentally chuckles coldly at the inner thought, really? Crossing the line with his mate? gods! he do not understand her... something sparked within him when she denied him, he didn’t know if he should be angry or not, emotions were something he could barely handle, he may be a man of knowledge but his emotions were something he was yet to grasp or any at all, you could say Basker was just a mentor and not an actual parent in that matter.
That was why when that filthy Grandmaster made attempts to touch her after his words he snapped, no... more importantly the ’beast’ within him did the bidding and next the man’s hand was off, he would have certainly taken more than that, maybe his head and burned that place to the ground. But he can’t meddle with the mortals... that was one of his rules whenever he descended it, but that doesn’t stop him from inflicting a ’little’ damage.
He straightened up in his seat, still watching the little creature before him. She seemed off today, her heartbeat was louder than ever and he can’t say if it was annoying to his ears because of how enhanced they are or if he wanted to know what happens when they pick up the pace more...
He mentally shakes his head. ’No William that would mean she’s afraid’ he mentally told himself, he knew the high increase in the heartbeat was fear, nervousness, or happiness but in her case, Ava was definitely afraid of him.
