"One. Two. Three. Four. Five" she states as they face her with shaky eyes.
"Are already on their way" she adds, breaking into a pearl of laughter, sounding like a maniac, and the mere sound chills their bones.
"This was her plan all along and we fell right into it," Kayla said as her eyes widened in realization.
"Bingo" six said in amusement like they just hit the jackpot and will be awarded prizes.
"Do you remember all those ancient folktales about ghouls drawing their power mostly in darkness... a way of honoring the ghoul king" she states in amusement.
The sunsets and everywhere darken instantly.
"Well let me demonstrate," she said in a demonic voice as her ghoul’s eyes beamed a dangerous purple in the dark.

Riley watched a sleeping Genesis, his head against her lap, he was sound asleep, his cheeks still wet with tears. Watching him down, he looks so vulnerable and adorable? You wouldn’t believe he was a powerful genetically made ghoul, he looked peaceful and normal, not a worry in the world as he smuggled more against Riley’s lap making her heart flutter by his action.
And it gave her that feeling again, what it would have been like if he grew up under their care like a normal child.
Liam watches them, with wistful eyes.
