Fu Jian glared at him, cheeks flushed pink. "Stop calling me that," he muttered, voice low but firm.
Yu Sicong tilted his head with a lazy smile, clearly not taking the warning seriously. "Why not? It suits you."
"It doesn’t," Fu Jian snapped. "We’re not—"
"Not what?" Yu Sicong stepped closer, invading his space again. His eyes, usually guarded, now shimmered with something raw, unfiltered. "Not dating? Not official? Not married?"
Fu Jian opened his mouth, then shut it again.
Yu Sicong leaned in, voice barely above a whisper. "Then give me a chance to change that."
Fu Jian looked up at him, frustration bubbling behind his eyes. "You think a kiss makes up for everything? You kept all this hidden. You never told me anything. You just... acted from the shadows like I was some kind of mission."
Yu Sicong’s smile faltered. He looked down for a moment, his expression more serious now. "I know. I messed up. I should’ve been honest. But I was scared, Jian. I liked you so much it made me stupid."
"That’s not an excuse," Fu Jian said quietly. "Liking someone shouldn’t mean hiding everything from them."
"I didn’t want you to think I was weird or clingy," Yu Sicong admitted. "I just... wanted to protect you. Even if it meant doing it from afar."
Fu Jian sighed, shoulders sagging slightly. "You’re still weird. And clingy. And annoying."
