Chapter 328: A Little Air Wouldn’t Hurt

With our hands tightly clasped together, Dace led me out of his room and then away from the mansion to a secluded patio just at the compound, where the garden was. From this space, I could see how the lights were bright in spite of the night skies, it seemed like the star of the place. The closer we got the closer I could see how the fairy lights adored the top giving it a surreal view, it was sensational and caught my entire attention.
"Fairy lights"
"Your fav," Dace said, winking at me as he held my hand tighter.
Confused and stunned, we came closer and it looked all laid out, there were two sets of white chairs and a table but at the center was a well-arranged platform covered on white sheets and then two pillows, at the side was a wine inside a basket I was certain that held treats, and red roses decorated around it, there were even rose petals laid out on the floor. Seeing all this was something out of a romantic movie and then it dawned on me and I turned my broad eyes to him.
"You planned this" It wasn’t a question but a realization.
He made a thinking face but I knew all too well that I was right, my heart fluttered and I blinked away the tears that were suddenly threatening to spill from my eyes.
"I know I’m not the best boyfriend... I ignored you for a whole week" he sounded regretful but that was the least of my worries.
"It’s not your fault" I mumbled and he pulled me close and placed a hand beneath my chin so that I would look at him. I leaned into his touch when he used his thumb to brush off the tear rolling down my cheeks.
"It is..." he began softly. "I was too caught up with everything, after..." he sighed and it felt like he was thinking of what to say next. "After my last shift as a rogue it was a painful toll and I didn’t want to weigh it on you, it wasn’t just about the distance"
