Chapter 147: Enraged

Like a snap of a twig, like a dam eruption, like a snap of my consciousness. I felt something weigh on me like a ton, I felt my chest being constricted by an unfamiliar feeling, I felt it being pulled by an invisible force. I no longer had control over my own body, my blood exploded within me, the hairs at the back of my neck stood up in alert, and dread found me as well as panic, the panic that filled my lungs and weakened me at the same time.
My body moved on its own accord like a puppet being driven toward something. My paws made the earth convulse with the very power I depleted as I blurred down the mountains, the trees quivered from it too, and the birds in fright of my monstrous speed soar away into the skies. My body roared at me, my senses on high alert and my mind blank with the pain, the ache from my very mark was overwhelming and consumed my brain too. It burned against my flesh and the much stronger urge to get home in time found me.
The strong desire was like something called to me, in a desperate call for help, I felt it ache into my very bones and I was unable to restrain it, I thought I might die from it. I have never had this feeling before, never in my life have I felt that my life was on the edge, this time it wasn’t just my mark giving me pain, but If I don’t get home right now!
My breathing was rugged and growls were licking off me, my brain was blank and all I could think of was going back home... to Emma.
’Slow down Dace, I can’t keep up!’ Lucas wailed in my head but that was just a fading voice to me, I was nonchalant where he was and my gait only increased further. We were far deep in the mountains but right now we were back in the clearing of Juneau. Just a little further.
’DACE!’
I neglected Lucas further as I darted off the next stream, hovering over the rock and jumping into the air. I landed on my two feet which shocked the ground and then I scurry on all fours. I zoomed my eyes and caught sight of our home. Finally!
I leaped over the gate without letting them open it first, I obscured the garden and then I stopped. Fuck! I forget I can’t go around the house looking like this, I might scare Emma, not just that there’s a house rule about not going into the house with your lion form, but that was the least my concern, my main reason was Emma.
I went on my two feet, leisurely shifting back to my human form as I walked, my hairs shedding behind and my body reshaping, I was already at the door just at the peak of my complete transformation.
