Chapter 142: Night School
The car made that cranking sound like it would come apart any second, Vanessa was still ignorant to change this car. Guess there was no point complaining, I could tell how much she wanted to push this car beyond the limits.
"We’re here," she said finally breaking an hour of silence. I turned my gaze to the familiar building I will be learning for the next month and I felt nothing but uncomfortable.
"Do I really have to stay here too?"
"Just think of it like a summer camp, it’s easier that way"
I sighed, opening the car door and attempting to come down but she stopped me with her words.
"You will adjust... it wasn’t easy for me too when I first started," she began. " I didn’t have your mom with me, we were inseparable until I got my Cycle," she said in a heavy tone filled with emotion and I was forced to face her. "I was angry and hurt that she won’t experience the world of supernatural with me... but I guess fate had other plans, your mom was destined to go out there and live her life and I was destined to stay here... I’m not angry anymore but I’m happy, she gets to live a normal life. I wanted that for you too"
I grip my bag on my lap.
"I guess fate has other plans too"
"Emma!" we turned at the sound of my name.
"Carly?" I said recognizing her, with her brown hair in twin braids and her dim blue eyes.
"Yeah she just started this month too... she was working part-time for me to help her mom, but now she gets to school," Vanessa said with a smile. "She was happy when she heard you were enrolling"
