Chapter 138: Words Of Thorns
I banged the door to the car and quickly ambled away, I didn’t want to even spend a second with anyone, I wanted to be left alone but seems like what I have always wanted had never been really mine,
"Hey, Emma!" Owen grabbed my arm as he twirled me. "What’s the rush? I haven’t seen you for weeks, I have been worried"
I chewed on the inside of my mouth, yes seeing him too was a relief I was glad he was okay after the state I last saw him but I was angry, hurt, confused, and still most likely about getting a glimpse of what was about to happen in my life right now, it kept me at the edge of a seat with a really long line to fall from.
"You have been awfully quiet since the ride" he moved close and I felt the need to move away. "Talk to me, Emma"
I faced my irate eyes at him and perplexity flushed his features, surely he wasn’t expecting me to shoot him that look.
"You told your dad didn’t you" I began sternly, the words I have been holding onto finally leaving me. It was time to let loose what I had in mind, he was among the people I could freely voice my feelings.
"Wha-"
"Vanessa must have told you because trust she can’t keep a secret and then you went ahead and told your dad!"
He scowled. "Emma, don’t tell me you like staying with those beasts"
"Really Owen" I huffed before pulling away from his grip. "Dace saved my life, they cared for me, you should have seen the mark" I pointed to the half bandage I now wore. "They nurse me back to health"
"I was trying to get to you Emma, I tried," he said with a bitter expression but I was nonchalant to it. "I would have gotten to you faster... then I would have been the one to save, I would have been the one to nurse you back to health" he explains with emotions swirling in his brown orbs like he hated himself for not being able to do what Dace did. It made my heart flutter at the sincerity of his words and I saw nothing but care, but I pushed the feelings back but then his looks turned stony. "Dace only took you back for selfish reasons’’ he concluded.
