Chapter 100: Magic
I felt a sting in my chest, the dread feeling swallowing me like a wave, and my breath on snag but I forced myself to breathe again, like cold water was spattered on my body, my fingers mingled jointly.
I heard a sigh beside me. "Look I’m sorry for putting it that way, but I just thought I should let you know"
"I-Its okay," I said in a serene tone, leisurely lifting my gaze to meet his eyes. "B-Besides they aren’t coming to school anymore, you don’t have to worry"
He was about to speak but the words hung and I used that as an opportunity to set my eyes on the book and sighed deeply.
"You know..." he began breaking the small second of silence that was suddenly discomfiting. "The barrier is nearest here"
I snapped my eyes back to him "R-Really?"
He nods with a small smile. "Look" he points in the direction of the iron gates around the garden covered in plants, I observed.
"Watch closely" I scarcely quaked because his words seemed like they were close to my ears. But I did as he told me, watching closely, making sure I focused on that and not his breath brushing against me.
"I-I don’t s-see anything,"
"Keep looking"
I sighed while adjusting my glasses. I didn’t know what I was concentrating on exactly. He just pointed towards the gate so I focused on it, narrowly capping my eyes.
