Chapter 9: Partner
I rushed downstairs, fully dressed and ready for school, but then I heard noises.
"Vanessa?" I called getting down, she was with a middle-aged man I have never seen before but by his dressing, I knew he was the electrician as well as the badge imprinted on his overalls.
"Oh Emma, this is Hank, he’s the handyman around here," Vanessa said in a giggly tone.
"Hi Hank,"
He smiled. "You must be Emma, your aunt talks about you a lot," he said, I just nodded. My school bus horn came through.
"Gotta go," I rushed to the door.
"Bye!" Vanessa said.
On my way to the door my eyes caught the red umbrella, I licked my lips. It wouldn’t hurt to give him back if I saw him.
