My eyes widened as I looked at the man in front of me who Carl was saying was none other than the alpha I had been trying to avoid, the alpha who could give me a death sentence any second.
"Y-you! You are the alpha?" I asked him, completely baffled.
No wonder I always felt he was quite powerful and...
"Carl, can you check the documents with my Beta Shadow? I just want to ask her a few questions regarding what happened. Just a normal protocol. I am sure the council wouldn’t want to interject with something like this," Shadow, I mean, Alpha Maverick said, he didn’t even look at the man he was speaking to, his gaze not moving away from my face, and Carl immediately left.
Yes. That was the kind of power Alpha Maverick had, the power which even the council was afraid of going against him.
How the hell did I never see that?
That day also when Dylan and Carl said it was Alpha Maverick who saved me, I thought Shadow was uselessly giving the credit to his alpha, and I even bad-mouthed the guy right on his face.
All those people bowed to him wherever he was going, and I thought it was because he was a follower of the Alpha...
Just how dumb could I be?
