Chapter 113 - 112. A Tunnel That Goes Deeper
Sarah and Hajin froze for a few seconds, before looking at each other in surprise. Sua looked at them in intrigue, since she herself didn’t recognize the name--it wasn’t the top-tier construction company after all.
"Huh? Huh? Do you recognize it, Eonni?"
The one who responded, however, was Sol. "Isn’t this...the one taking care of your land?"
"Yeah..."
Sua got even more confused. "What? What do you mean?"
They paused the topic so Sarah could explain the blind date getting shoved to her; how she only meant to keep it going because the man had a project where the land left by her maternal grandparents was. Sarah had thought it would only become a side quest where she decided to sell her lands for more money to buy HS’s shares or not, but...
Who knew the construction company partnered with said blind date would be the one in charge of the bridge she crashed into?
"A-at that time, th-there was d-dispute with p-previous cont-t-tractor, so the gov-government open a b-bid, and..." the Little Bird took a deep breath before continuing. "T-the b-biggest bid-bidders were HS and Dae-Daesung."
"The accident was used by Daesung to pressure HS into retreating from the bid," Sarah added. "That was how the assets I just received from my grandfather got frozen--as a punishment or whatever."
When she had just returned, Sarah didn’t remember this clearly. To be fair, she also didn’t remember much during her first timeline because she was so distraught by her mother’s death. But just like how it was with Hajin, her memory sharpened up with the right trigger. The secretary who told her about her frozen assets mentioned the reason in a flat, disinterested tone when she was still in a daze after being given a sedative.
Wow...these people.
