Chapter 102 - 101. Giving Heart
Sarah widened her eyes and grabbed her blanket so she could pull up and sit instead of lying down. It wasn’t the kind of story she could just listen to while lying around.
"She knew she was sick and didn’t have a long time left," Hajin continued nonchalantly, but there was a hint of bitterness in his dry voice. "Rather than trying to get treatment there, she flew here to see him for the last time--not to meet, just to see him from afar with her own eyes."
"Oh..." Sarah bit her lip, her hand finding Hajin’s unconsciously. "Was that why you were on a bad term with her?"
"Yeah," Hajin looked down with a smile, rubbing the hand that was holding his. "When she woke up after the surgery, I told her I finally understood," he chuckled. "I don’t condone the affair she had, but I know what it felt like to be enslaved by one’s feelings."
"So you made peace with her," Sarah muttered. There was a slight envy for having a chance to see and talk to one’s mother for one last time, but she quickly dismissed such a thought.
One could only hope for one miracle anyway. If her regression helped Hajin reconcile with his mother, wasn’t that good too?
Hajin saw the slight, shirt turbulence inside the black eyes and held the girl’s hand tighter, taking it to his lips. "Thanks to you, Princess."
Sarah took the deep stare and this time, instead of pulling her hand away, she pulled the person toward her, finding his lips with her own. Hajin widened his eyes for a second before laughing into the kiss and holding the girl back in his arms.
That was, before he suddenly groaned and startled Sarah with it. "W-what?" Sarah blinked in confusion when Hajin curled up over her blanketed lap.
"I was acting so pathetic!" Hajin groaned and clutched his head as if remembering his dark eighth-grader emo era. "So uncool!"
Sarah tilted her head. Was this guy lamenting the fact that he was crying and begging? Or the fact that he was so lost in his own assumption that made him lie to her?
