Divine Magus: Awakening

Chapter 4: Assessment

A bright white space revealed itself to Logan’s view as space compressed and expanded unceasingly filling Logan with unending nausea.

He tried to observe his surroundings to get a firm idea of what was happening and only succeeded in making his nausea worse.

His body blurred and sharply focused before a massive force landed on him, throwing him out of the white space and into a hall.

Logan spent a few moments collecting himself as he fought the rising bile in his stomach.

"All potential aspirants wishing to participate in the assessment should make payments immediately." an emotionless voice called out from the end of the hall, pulling Logan’s attention.

Strengthening his will and stomach, he walked down the mason-edged stone walls of the great hall he found himself in.

The large space revealed no windows but was illuminated sufficiently with a soft golden glow by floating orbs that hovered at 2 meters above the ground and regular intervals.

The source of the uncaring voice was a round-bellied man without hair and pale pink skin at the end of the hall.

His booth which appeared to be made of glass marked the end of the hall.

Approaching it, Logan pulled out the scroll and gave it to the man, "I would have sold it and brought the money but I didn’t have time." Logan explained although he had no real need to.

The man sighed as he rubbed the top of his head, an unconscious behavior that might have contributed to his balding, not that Logan would mention it.
