Chapter 125: Silent Obsession
Zeke frowned slightly. He stared at her, digging through his memory. But nothing came up, he couldn’t remember ever seeing this woman before.
Still, he didn’t want to seem rude. She was Claire’s doctor, after all. So instead of asking who she was, he stayed quiet.
Anastasia saw the hesitation in his eyes and seemed to understand.
"Ah... you’re Adam’s sister?" he said, the pieces finally clicking into place. "Sorry, I didn’t realize. I saw your last name was Campbell."
Anastasia gave a small nod. "Yeah, makes sense. I’m married now, so I use my husband’s name."
Zeke nodded in understanding. "Right. How’s Adam? I haven’t seen him in a long time."
Anastasia blinked, a little surprised by the question, then gave a small smile. "He doesn’t live in the States anymore. He moved to Canada with his wife."
Zeke nodded slowly. Adam had been his college friend, same major, but they’d never been that close. Just acquaintances. As for Anastasia... he barely remembered her. She had been a year or two below them. A quiet underclassman, not someone he’d ever talked to directly.
After a few more words and polite small talk, Zeke, Cassidy, and Claire said their goodbyes.
Anastasia walked them to the door of her room, offering one last smile before they disappeared into the hallway.
The moment they were out of sight, her expression changed. She turned back toward her desk, opened a drawer, and pulled out her phone.
She sat down, staring at the door for a moment before tapping a number.
