Married My Enemy To Save My Family

Chapter 83. Silence Between Stars

The stars were still there.

That was the first thing Elara noticed when she stepped back onto the Wraith’s bridge. The stars hadn’t changed. But she had.

Recursion was gone.

And the galaxy felt quiet in a way she had never known before. No whispering versions of herself. No lingering Architect code worming through reality. Just... silence.

It was unnerving. And somehow beautiful.

The Wraith drifted slowly through open space, untethered to war or mission for the first time since anyone aboard could remember.

Aeron stood by the console, watching her in the stillness.

"So," he said, voice softer than usual. "What now?"

She gave a small smile. "I guess we figure out how to live without being someone else’s legacy."

In the common deck, the mood was strangely light.

Nova had brewed real coffee illegally strong and was daring anyone to beat her at holo-chess. Damien sat on the floor beside her, rewiring the diagnostic sensors not because they needed it, but because he didn’t know how to not fix something.
