Chapter 103: Journey to the lab.
At the White house, Janet was given the royal treatment. She took a hot shower, changed into new clothes and was given her own private room which was once used by the deceased first lady. She was given a hot meal and then sat down with Ceasar for a talk in the White house lounge.
"So, what are you?" he asked her. "I know that you are superhuman, but I need to understand your abilities."
Janet thrust her hand out and the water in the glasses which were sitting in the table rose up. As she swept her hand out, the water followed the direction she commanded it to. "I can feel the water," She explained as she continued demonstrating her tricks. "It is like my own heartbeat, like a part of me. I can sense it wherever it is in the ground or around us in the air. I can tell good water from bad one."
"Can you turn the acid rain into normal water?" Ceasar asked her. His eyes were wide, and he was very excited to see her abilities. He was more than sure than she had encountered the mist on Liora ocean, and it was how she had gained her abilities.
If he sent more people into the mist, he would have more superhumans serving him. And when he figured out how the change happened, he wound undergo it as well.
Janet shook her head. "I can only control water, but I can’t change its composition." She lowered her hand, and the water settled back into the glasses.
Ceasar hid his disappointment. Janet’s importance was not as great as he had imagined. He thought they would never run out of fresh water as long as she was around. She was nothing more than an umbrella in the end!
He did not share this Janet and laughed instead. "How amazing! I will count on you to find us all clean or good water from now on. But for now, there is an urgent mission that needs someone of your abilities." Without wasting any more time, Ceaser rose up and gestured that she does the same.
"We have some doctors and important leaders trapped in a laboratory that need to be rescued but we could not get to them because of the acid rain. I am hoping that you will be able to divert the rain and create a safe space for a convoy to reach the lab." He looked at her and led her out of the lounge. "Do you think that you can do that?"
"I think so." Janet replied without hesitation.
