Chapter 34: Doubting the time line of the apocalypse.
Sunshine took another deep breath, ready to unleash her own crazy prophetic dream on her friend. She sat down on a sack of corn flour patted her legs as if she owned space itself, planted her hands on her knees and looked at her friend. "Moon is not crazy because the apocalypse is really coming."
Nimo blinked at Sunshine, her mouth slightly opened as if the words had not fully been processed. She laughed, falling onto her back and kicking her feet in the air.
"Nimo, look at my face." Sunshine said in her stern ’get your shit together’ voice.
Nimo stopped laughing and she sat upright. Whenever Sunshine used that tone, she meant serious business. The first time she used it; she had asked her to accompany her to Tommy Basil’s house as she was going to break his ankle for stealing her bike.
They walked there, Sunshine had done as she said and then they rode off on the stolen bike listening to the sound of Tommy’s mother yelling at them never to return to her house or she would call the police. They were nine years old at the time.
The last time Sunshine used it, was last year when her classmate called Colby plagiarized her work and ruined her project. Sunshine had asked her to escort her to a bar Colby frequented. Then she slashed the tires of his car and broke his nose with a wrench.
If Colby was not on drugs and afraid of the police looking into him, Sunshine would have spent at least a few days in jail.
That tone always meant serious business.
"Okay spill." Nimo pushed herself to stand, moving into a position where she could read her friend’s facial expressions.
