Apparently, Saphira had finally slithered out of her magical coma, thanks to the ever-unconventional handiwork of Professor Sirius.
It took quite a while to purge the remnants of Norvan’s lingering magic, but the important part was—her familiar had survived.
To make things even stranger, the investigation team had apparently interviewed the snake—yes, interviewed—and walked away from the conversation looking more confused than ever.
Whatever Saphira said (or hissed) only deepened the mystery around Norvan’s death.
One thing was clear: Verena wasn’t slithering her way out of this mess any time soon.
Minutes later, Verena stepped into Sirius’ office, her eyes immediately landing on the familiar figure lounging by the window.
Saphira, her familiar, was there, looking as regal as ever, with her sleek scales gleaming under the light. The sight made Verena’s heart skip a beat from excitement.
"Finally! Took you long enough," Verena said, her lips curling into a sly grin as she approached Saphira.
The snake flicked her tail in greeting, and with a sudden leap, she was in Verena’s arms, her body gently holding onto her. "Miss me?" Saphira purred, nuzzling her face into Verena’s neck.
"You bet I did. Who else would I let steal my spotlight, huh?"
