Chapter 27: How to deal with a yandere [2][GTG]
Anna moved in the shadows, her eyes gleaming with barely-contained fury. *I should have killed him the very moment that lowlife even dared to speak to my love,* she thought, trailing Leo as he made his way to the dormitory, his steps deliberate yet unhurried.
Her fists clenched at her sides, nails biting into her palms as memories of the past days flashed through her mind.
Throughout the exams, her "love" had seemed preoccupied, his thoughts clouded, and his gaze distant. It had taken all her restraint to keep herself from lashing out every time he ignored her, focused instead on some inner turmoil she couldn’t fathom. If she had to guess, it was all because of that insignificant fool he tried to help—a weakling who had no place in his world, much less in his thoughts. Why did he waste even a second of his attention on that nobody?
And then, to make matters worse, she had witnessed her love, suffer the bitter sting of defeat. The sight of his pained expression after realizing he had lost to that low-ranking weakling had shattered something within her. Her patience, her self-restraint—gone. It was as if a switch had flipped in her mind, her thoughts narrowing down to one purpose: eliminate the filth.
As she moved, her gaze sharpened, narrowing in on Leo. He was unaware, or so she thought, of her silent pursuit. *Strange... why is he taking the stairs instead of the elevator?* she wondered. Her brow furrowed, suspicion flickering in her mind, but it wasn’t enough to slow her down. She kept her pace light, blending into the surroundings with ease. The dormitory was mostly deserted at this hour, as students were either lingering over dinner or still locked in their VR training chambers. She felt a smug satisfaction, confident in her ability to tail him undetected.
*This will be easy,* she mused, a dark thrill sparking in her chest. She could practically feel the weight of her dagger in her hand, poised to silence him for good. *He’s so weak. How did he manage to rack up so many points?* She scoffed, disdain clouding her expression. Jayden was leagues stronger, leagues smarter—how had this nobody managed to rise so high?
Her mind raced through the possibilities. Maybe he had a powerful teammate carrying him? But no, she quickly dismissed that idea. *If he was riding on someone else’s success, that person should be at the top of the ranking, not him,* she reasoned. Yet, something nagged at her. This version of Leo, the one who now led the scoreboard, was different. Gone was the weak, insignificant boy from before the exams. In his place was someone who exuded a confidence and strength that hadn’t been there before. And his looks... *He’d gotten more attractive too,* she noted, annoyed by the observation.
But it only made her more desperate to kill him. This imposter, this new Leo, felt like a threat. She could sense it in her gut—a threat not only to her love but to everything she’d carefully planned.
*Let him get to his dorm,* she decided, her lips curling into a malicious smile. *Then, I’ll kill him without anyone ever knowing.* She continued to tail him, cautious to avoid drawing any attention or arousing his suspicion. This wasn’t the first time she’d had to handle threats to her love’s affections. She knew how to be patient, knew how to wait for the right moment to strike.
