Not long after, having finished his cigarette, Gao Chuan returned to his office to gather the documents he needed for his trip. Dr. Bai, exhausted from the day, sat down on a chair, closed his eyes, and tentatively asked, "I heard the director assigned you and Song Xin to go together?"
Gao Chuan continued to pack his belongings unaffected; originally, he was supposed to go on this drug research trip alone, but the director, knowing the lab was short-staffed, assigned Song Xin to join him.
It was just work, he felt nothing of it.
