Chapter 177 She’s Being Petulant
At nine o’clock in the evening, Gao Chuan, who had been working overtime at the hospital, dragged his exhausted body back home. Upon entering, he found Jiang An sitting on the sofa watching TV, her gaze drifting absently across the screen until the man walked in, startling her back to reality.
"You’re back, have you eaten? I saved some food for you." Jiang An said as she stood up from the sofa.
The temperature in early April was no longer too cool, and Jiang An was wearing only a snow-white gauze dress with a light-colored shawl draped over her shoulders, looking gentle and lovely.
Gao Chuan began to undo his tie, watching the distracted girl and thinking about how he had hastily eaten a bowl of instant noodles back in his department, so he waved off her offer.
Jiang An paused briefly then stopped in her tracks, exchanging a few simple words with the man before heading alone back to the bedroom.
Gao Chuan noticed that the girl was not in high spirits tonight. Usually, Jiang An would buzz around him like a chattering sparrow asking all sorts of questions, but today she was unusually quiet.
The man didn’t think much of it and, after pouring a glass of water, went to his study to handle matters concerning his laboratory in Switzerland. By the time he finished, it was nearly ten o’clock.
All this time, there was no sound from Jiang An, so Gao Chuan closed his notebook and turned to enter the bedroom.
As he approached the door, he saw Jiang An already lying on the bed, showing only her back to him, nothing like the girl who used to lie in bed playing with her phone and browsing Weibo.
Gao Chuan methodically took a shower then quietly lay down beside the girl. After a long while, seeing that Jiang An didn’t initiate a conversation, he reluctantly reached out to turn off the light.
