Wei Yan had been inviting Jiang An for a meal previously, but unfortunately, she had been too busy at the hospital to spare any time. Today, they finally managed to sit down and have a good chat.
The man asked Jiang An many questions about her work in the hospital, politely cut a steak and pushed it in front of Jiang An, and listened as she mentioned that although work at the hospital was busy, it was also fulfilling. He advised her not to overwork herself.
"What has Brother Wei Yan been busy with lately?" Jiang An asked after taking a few bites of her salad.
"Nothing much, just some projects in the company," Wei Yan responded, and seemed to think of something before looking up and asking, "Do you have any free time coming up?"
Jiang An was just taking a bite of steak when she heard Wei Yan’s question and replied somewhat surprised, "What’s up?"
"It’s nothing big, there’s possibly a project coming up in Z city and you mentioned before that you’ve wanted to go back, right? If you’re free, I could take you back for a visit." The man continued cutting his steak with his knife and fork, not daring to look directly into Jiang An’s eyes.
Jiang An felt a slight flicker in her eyes when he mentioned Z city. She indeed wanted to find an opportunity to go back and visit, but the workload at the hospital right now really made it hard for her to leave.
She had to decline in the end, and Wei Yan seemed to have expected her response, so he didn’t say much.
During the meal, the man paused several times as if wanting to say something. He wanted to ask about Jiang An and Gao Chuan, but recalling that last time in the hospital, she had expressed her desire to resolve her marriage issues herself, he did not pry any further.
He assumed she must have her own plans, and meddling further might upset Jiang An, so he chose to remain silent.
