Did That Doctor Successfully Remarry Today?

Chapter 129 - 128

Chapter 128 Never Stepped In

In the afternoon of the third day of the lunar month, Jiang An drove Gao Chuan’s car to the hospital to pick him up for discharge. Dr. Bai had just finished the discharge procedures for Gao Chuan when he saw Jiang An hurrying over. He couldn’t help but smile and thought to himself how bright he had been shining as a third wheel these past few days. After greeting the man who was packing up in the ward, he turned around and headed back to his department.

Gao Chuan, holding his belongings, walked out of the hospital with Jiang An. By the time the two drove home, it was already nearing evening. As soon as they arrived at the underground garage, the man deftly pulled out the car keys and didn’t immediately follow Jiang An upstairs. Instead, he claimed he wanted to swing by the convenience store at the base of the residential building to buy some stuff.

Jiang An didn’t think much of it and took the things from the man to head upstairs first to prepare dinner for the both of them.

Due to Gao Chuan’s injury, he naturally avoided spicy and greasy foods. Jiang An simply stir-fried a few home-cooked dishes and boiled a pot of plain congee.

By the time the two finished dinner, it was already unknowingly late in the evening. Jiang An had just started to clean up the dishes on the table and carry them to the kitchen when the man, who had changed into his home clothes, followed her in and stopped the girl from doing the dishes, with a slightly seductive voice whispering into her ear: "I’ll do it. You go take a shower."

Jiang An’s face turned red at the sound as if she understood the hidden message in the man’s words. Obediently, she left the dishes in the sink and, blushing, ran into her own room.

Gao Chuan watched as the girl fled in a panic. He silently put on the dishwashing gloves, turned on the faucet, and let the clear stream of water glide over his fingertips, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

Quickly tidying up the messy dishes in the sink, the man wiped his palms dry with a towel and walked straight into Jiang An’s bedroom.

Jiang An was still showering in the bathroom, the sound of running water reaching the man’s ears, feeling somewhat noisy.

The night fell thick as ink, casting a vast net over the city, while the festive atmosphere of the New Year had yet to fade away.
