As the internship period had already passed a week, according to the hospital’s assessment regulations, the four of them had to participate in creating three assessment reports collectively, and then the final slots would be decided by the doctors of the hospital.
Jiang An also started preparing for the first assessment content, and for her, whether she stayed or left was not very important, as gaining experience was the most crucial part for her who was just starting out.
About two weeks later, Jiang An and Ren Lin took turns being Dr. Li’s assistants in surgeries. Jiang An, who didn’t have much clinical experience before, only truly felt the exhaustion of a chief surgeon after continuously performing surgery for five hours; all the people on the operating table were risking their lives.
By the time the surgery ended, it was already noon. Jiang An, feeling somewhat numb all over, changed out of her surgical garb and silently returned to the office. The entire five-hour surgery didn’t even allow time for a restroom break, and she was drenched in sweat when she came out of the operating room.
The girl weakly leaned on her desk, thinking that Ren Lin and the others must have gone for lunch by now. Without thinking much, she closed her eyes and fell asleep.
She did not know how much time had passed when Jiang An felt someone gently tapping on her back. The girl slowly opened her bleary eyes, slightly sat up, and saw a pair of slender hands extending toward her. Soon after, Ren Lin’s gentle voice reached her ears: "Jiang An, don’t sleep yet, I’ve brought you a packed lunch from the cafeteria."
Jiang An’s stomach had already been growling for a while, as she hadn’t eaten all day due to the tiring surgery, and she hadn’t gone down to eat. At this moment, Ren Lin’s act was like sending charcoal in snowy weather. She looked at the neatly packed lunch box placed in front of her. Ren Lin was carefully opening the lid for her, and a warm current surged in her heart.
Looking down again, Ren Lin saw the girl’s eyes glistening with moisture, perhaps because she had just woken up, a few strands of hair on top of her head were sticking up, her expression foggy. The look in her eyes towards him seemed full of gratitude, and her voice was soft, directly poking one’s heart.
