The environment in the Wonton Shop was not noisy, yet Jiang An could clearly sense the man’s displeasure, and the atmospheric pressure between the two plummeted.
Jiang An was still avoiding Gao Chuan’s gaze, when the Boss Lady happily brought over two bowls of wontons, and the girl looked up to say "thank you" with a smile.
The two ate their wontons, and throughout the meal, neither spoke.
Dr. Gao was usually a man of few words, but Jiang An was pondering how to explain to the man. Clearly, she felt that he seemed a bit angry because of her earlier question.
But it was he who had always been concerned about keeping their marriage relationship as concealed as possible. Jiang An supported her head in contemplation, occasionally lifting her eyes to glance at Dr. Gao, who was eating slowly across her. The man still wore an expressionless face like a block of ice, his eyes slightly chilling.
Knowing that the man might be upset about her overly concealing their relationship, Jiang An didn’t know what to say to alleviate the awkward atmosphere between them, as coaxing people was what she was worst at.
With something on her mind, Jiang An ate her wontons intermittently. Fortunately, there were few customers in the shop, which prevented their silence from becoming too desolate.
When Gao Chuan had finished his last wonton, he finally looked up to see a gloomy-faced Jiang An. The girl saw the empty bowl in front of Gao Chuan and hurriedly sped up, quickly stuffing the few remaining wontons into her mouth. Her frantic movements caught Dr. Gao’s eye, causing a slight frown on his handsome brow.
Once Jiang An finally finished the bowl of wontons in big bites, she couldn’t help but burp and felt extremely embarrassed just as the man opposite her had already stood up to pay the bill.
