Chapter 81 Dr. Gao Doesn’t Want Children
It took the two people roughly an hour to reach Grandma’s house. Gao Chuan had told the family early in the morning that he would accompany Jiang An to visit Fang Qing, and Grandma, considering the young lady’s feelings, had her sit down and eat as soon as she arrived.
With her eyes still red from crying all morning, Jiang An sat next to Grandma and felt her nose tingle when the old lady touched the back of her hand. She wondered what she had done to deserve such generous treatment from everyone in the Gao Family.
Gao Lin, sensing Jiang An’s low mood and not wanting to bring up the subject of Fang Qing for fear of reviving the girl’s sorrows, carried a bowl of rice with his usual stern expression. He asked about Jiang An’s internship and, upon hearing that she had been accepted by City Hospital, broke into a smile, praising her repeatedly, "Good, good, good."
Jiang An was not a mere decorative vase—that was something Gao Chuan had determined the first moment he met her.
Hearing about the half-year internship, Shen Mei pondered for a moment, her brows knitting slightly. She continued to place meat into Jiang An’s bowl and asked, "Anan, when do you plan to start having children?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere at the table cooled. Even without Shen Mei explicitly saying it, Jiang An could understand her anxiety. Both Gao Chuan and Gao Yu, as successors of the Gao Family, were already in their thirties and neither daughter-in-law showed any sign of pregnancy, which was understandably worrisome for Shen Mei.
But in her heart, Jiang An knew full well that she and Dr. Gao were simply not going to have children.
Seeing the girl biting her chopsticks in silence, Shen Mei tried again, "How about waiting until your internship ends? It’s okay Anan, you don’t have to work. Gao Chuan can support you," she said, in a tone that seemed casual but carried a pressuring undertone.
