Chapter 73 - 72 Ji Wanwan’s Invitation
The grandmother woke up at noon the next day, with their complexion pallid due to the medication. Upon opening her eyes, she saw Jiang An by her bed, smiling weakly at the corner of her mouth. Jiang An, overjoyed to see her grandmother awake, ran out to call the doctor.
The doctor explained that her condition had mostly stabilized, but as a precaution, she would still need to be hospitalized for a few more days. Gao Chuan was busy with work at the hospital during the day and couldn’t care for her, so Jiang An stayed and took turns with Gao Lin and Shen Mei to keep vigil. It took several days for the grandmother’s complexion to improve.
People usually praised Jiang An for her sensibleness, and the Gao family had all seen how, in light of this incident, the girl had been doting over the grandmother. Shen Mei, in particular, noticed this.
The day after the grandmother was discharged, she invited the girl over for a meal and heaped praise upon her, "Our Gao family is so blessed to have earned you in fortunes of many lifetimes. Gao Chuan marrying such an understanding wife is a great fortune indeed!"
Jiang An blushed in embarrassment from Shen Mei’s praise. Actually, for her, taking care of the grandmother was not merely out of obligation as Gao Chuan’s wife; she genuinely wanted to take care of the elderly lady.
Gao Lin had also fully accepted this daughter-in-law. Initially, he did think the sudden marriage was improper, but after nearly two months of living together, he was fully aware of the girl’s commitment to the family.

Jiang An could only nod silently and said tactfully, "Dad, we’re not in a hurry," but was interrupted by Shen Mei, who was serving her food, "That won’t do. You young ones may dislike the hassle, so leave it to us. Marrying Gao Chuan quietly must have been hard for you. We must celebrate grandly when the time comes; we have to show everyone what a great daughter-in-law we have," Shen Mei said, her eyes almost disappearing as she smiled.
When she was younger, she always wanted a daughter but ended up having two sons instead. Now, with such a sweet and sensible young girl, she felt as if her wish for a daughter had been fulfilled.
