Chapter 66 - 65 Good Night, Sweet Dreams
Originally, the two planned to leave after dinner, but who would have expected Grandma to keep chatting with Jiang An, unknowingly extending their time until late at night. Gao Chuan glanced up at the wall clock and let out a slight sigh, then turned back to see Grandma still talking nonstop in front of Jiang An, feeling a bit puzzled as to where all their whispered conversations were coming from these days.
The man helplessly went upstairs alone to join a remote medical consultation. Several experts got into a dispute due to differing opinions, and the consultation dragged on until midnight. After closing his laptop, Dr. Gao leaned back in his chair, rubbing his eyebrows tiredly. Moonlight already streamed in through the window, illuminating half of the man’s face.
Thinking that Jiang An would have already gone to bed by this time, Gao Chuan quietly pushed open the bedroom door only to discover two soft, star-like glimmers still shining in the dim room. The girl, already in her pajamas, was lying on the bed playing with her phone. As Gao Chuan entered from behind, he saw her excitedly curled toes.
Only when he approached the bedside did he see Jiang An’s somewhat blurry face in the dim light. Fully engrossed in her phone screen, the girl hadn’t realized the man had stood by the bed. While getting into bed himself, Gao Chuan asked, "How come you’re not asleep yet?"
Jiang An then snapped back to reality, glancing up to see the man already lying beside her, but her gaze didn’t linger long and did not put down her phone, simply replying, "Scrolling through Weibo."
Dr. Gao, considered an "old fogy" by others, had never installed Weibo on his phone, so he merely grunted in acknowledgment and noticed the little girl still busily swiping on her phone, her round face glowing from the phone’s illumination.
Dr. Gao gradually lay back, gazing at the ceiling for a few seconds before asking Jiang An, "Aren’t you going to sleep?"
Without taking her eyes off the phone screen, Jiang An replied, "Oh, you go ahead and sleep. I’ll watch a little longer."
Hearing this, Gao Chuan furrowed his brows, wanting to close his eyes, but without the slightest hint of sleepiness, he turned to look at Jiang An, still brimming with energy, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he inquired, "What are you watching?"
