Night fell like an abyss, a shallow crescent hung in the east, a few stars faintly twinkling coldly, the city bustling with festivities under the cover of night.
Gao Chuan drove to the private room arranged by Song Li and pushed open the mahogany door to find men clustered together, their faces furrowed, the room filled with a strong smell of alcohol and fireworks. Hearing the sound of the door, Song Li, who noticed him entering, quickly let go of the girls around him and cheerfully welcomed him to sit on the couch.
The usual friends, knowing Gao Chuan’s reclusive nature, continued singing and drinking as usual, while Gao Chuan sat silently in a corner, pouring himself a drink to slowly savor.
Today was Song Li’s birthday gathering, and almost everyone present was a friend Gao Chuan knew from the circle, all either rich or noble young masters. He seemed somewhat out of place among them, and after a short while, he bluntly transferred some money to Song Li as a birthday gift before standing up intending to leave. A somewhat tipsy Song Li grabbed his shoulder, "Leaving so early, afraid your wife is getting anxious?"
As soon as Song Li finished speaking, Gao Chuan, who felt his shoulder clutched, grew cold in expression, his fierce glare sweeping towards the drunken man, snuffing out his cigarette butt, uninterested in entertaining the joke.
Inebriated, Song Li danced wildly with the music, smugly smiling at Gao Chuan, "Lao Gao, you’ve got to change this problem of forgetting friends after getting a wife."
"Yeah, when will you bring your sister-in-law over for us to see? We also want to see what kind of beauty has captured you, this god-like man, hahaha." His friends joked. News of Gao Chuan’s marriage had spread in the circle not long ago, and everyone was curious which famous family’s daughter matched Gao Chuan, the "unattainable."
