Chapter 2 - 1 Pink Post-it Note
"Everything will get better." — Gao Chuan
Early morning, the sunlight is faint.
Sunlight penetrates layers of cloud gaps, a silvery light enveloping Gao Chuan who sits by the window, casting rustling shadows on the dark gray floor, the seated body glowing with fluorescence.
The coffee on the table emits an attractive rich aroma, he picks it up and sips gently, the delicate pattern in the cup distorts momentarily, a faint bitterness lingers on his tongue.
A moment later, Gao Chuan steps out of the coffee shop, walks to the spot where he parked his car, just a few meters away, a black Phaeton quietly stands under a French plane tree at the corner of the street.
He takes out the keys to unlock the car and upon approaching, he notices something stuck to the driver's side window.
A pink sticky note.
Gao Chuan bends down to take it off, the pink paper unfolded in his palm, the delicate handwriting clearly visible.
"Sorry, car owner, I was in a rush riding my bike and accidentally scratched your car. I waited for a long time but didn't see you, I have urgent matters and must leave first. Please contact me when you see this, I will definitely compensate you. My phone number: XXXXXXXXX"
Gao Chuan circles around and finally spots a grayish-white scratch on the right front wing of the car, akin to a surgical scar he leaves on patients, which stands out against the pristine black body.
He glances at the time, frowning slightly, he casually places the sticky note in his shirt pocket and drives off.
