Chapter 1078: Heart in Turmoil (8)
Is that so... If only she was willing to lie to her.
Su Wanwan forced a smile, looked up at Mu Yuze, and said calmly, "I’m not going to resign."
Mu Yuze’s smile faded, "What did you say?"
"I know you’re concerned about me, but I’ve been an adult for a long time. I don’t need others to make decisions for me." Su Wanwan took a deep breath, "Regardless of whether Mr. Feng has any other intentions towards me, it doesn’t affect my respect for him. At least he wouldn’t do anything to hurt me. I trust him."
After speaking, Su Wanwan added, "Thank you anyway."
After she finished, the silence in the elevator was eerily oppressive.
Ayuan stood in the corner, as if she hadn’t heard anything, focusing on looking for ants with her head down.
Mu Yuze finally let out a light laugh, "So what you’re saying is, you can’t bear to leave him, right? If he breaks through that layer of pretense, you’d probably be eager to throw yourself into his arms, wouldn’t you?"
His voice was soft, but when Su Wanwan heard it, she felt a heavy weight in her heart.
She closed her eyes briefly, "That’s my own business. No matter the outcome, I am capable of taking responsibility for my own choices."
Mu Yuze didn’t speak for a long time.
The elevator dinged and stopped just then, the doors opened, and Ayuan rushed out.
Gathering her courage, Su Wanwan raised her head and met his deep, dark eyes, her already erratic heart beating wildly.
"I... I need to get back to work." She said softly.
"Su Wanwan, didn’t you hear what I just said?" He slowly curled the corners of his mouth up, "If you don’t resign, I’ll make sure he can’t stay in City A."
"You won’t do that." Su Wanwan gave a stiff smile, "I know you’re not that kind of person."
Mu Yuze uttered a faint "Oh," "It seems, you think you know me very well."
Su Wanwan said nothing more.
The man took a long step and finally left the elevator.
As the sound of his footsteps gradually faded, Su Wanwan felt all the strength drain from her body. The elevator doors closed automatically, and she slid to the floor, burying her head in her knees, feeling utterly miserable.
What exactly did he mean?
Does he care about her? Su Wanwan wasn’t a fool; if he was only concerned about her, he wouldn’t be this angry.
Jealous? How could that be?
Unconsciously, she touched her lips, where his breath seemed still lingering, making it harder for Su Wanwan to think calmly.
Finally, she could only smile bitterly and stand up, pressing the button for her office floor.
When she reached the studio door, she saw Feng Xiyuan standing by the window, a cigarette between his fingers, his expression blurred and inscrutable amidst the swirling smoke.
Su Wanwan was taken aback.
She had never seen Mr. Feng smoke before. But given the density of the smoke in the room, he must have smoked more than one in just a few minutes.
Could it be that Mr. Feng really...
She didn’t dare think further, gently knocking on the door.
Feng Xiyuan heard the noise, turned his head to see her, and his pupils widened slightly.
He quickly pinched out the cigarette and walked toward her, "Why are you back? I already agreed to give you half a day off."
"How can I take leave for no reason?" She smiled, a bit embarrassed, "Mr. Feng, I’m sorry to trouble you. I didn’t know they’d come here."
Feng Xiyuan smiled faintly, "That man... was Mu Yuze, right?"
