Chapter 454: Your Sister Is In Trouble
Mu Yiliang was stunned!
She had never been treated like this at home! Back when she was living and studying alone in the United States for many years, she hardly ever returned, and when she did, no one welcomed her with such enthusiasm. All she received were cold and even disgusted looks.
When something unusual happens, there must be a reason.
She carefully observed her surroundings and suddenly realized that it seemed like no one had taken care of the yard for a long time.
The flowers and plants in the yard were in disarray, and the tables and chairs used for afternoon tea seemed to be covered with a layer of dust.
Since someone still lived here, for it to be in such a state could only mean that the owner had lost interest in maintaining it.
Just as Mu Yiliang came to this conclusion, she saw her mother, Mei Suqin, running out.
She looked much older, yet there was still a sharpness in her eyes. Upon seeing Mu Yiliang, she stared at her for a long time, probably unable to believe that she was the once unnoticed daughter.
"Yiliang? Is that you?" She scrutinized her cautiously.
"It’s me." Mu Yiliang smiled faintly, "Mom, it’s been a long time."
"...You’ve finally come back." A trace of excitement flashed across Mei Suqin’s face, but she quickly suppressed it, revealing the commanding demeanor familiar to Mu Yiliang, "Do you still remember this is your home?"
Upon seeing her for the first time, Mu Yiliang did feel a bit guilty, but her mother’s words immediately dispelled any guilt she felt.
Mu Yiliang didn’t respond to her words, instead, she asked coolly, "I heard from Grandpa that you were looking for me. Is there something wrong?"
Mei Suqin cast an indignant glance at her, seemingly displeased with her attitude, but as if reminded of something, she couldn’t hold back.
"Come inside first." Her voice was stiff.
"No need, just tell me what it’s about." Mu Yiliang just wanted to know what had happened at home, to avoid being caught off guard. She had no intention to bond with her parents nor to take on their troubles.
"Are you afraid I’m going to eat you?" Mei Suqin’s tone turned sharp.
"If it’s nothing, then I’ll be going back." Mu Yiliang made to leave.
"Wait!" Mei Suqin said resentfully, taking a deep breath before speaking, "It’s Yixun... something happened to her..."
After saying that, her eyes reddened.
Mu Yiliang was slightly stunned, "What happened to her?"
"She..." Mei Suqin choked up.
At the mention of her beloved youngest daughter, Mei Suqin’s earlier forcefulness instantly vanished, leaving only worry and sorrow.
Mu Yiliang saw this and felt a complicated twinge in her heart.
No matter what had happened to Mu Yixun, her mother’s care was undeniably genuine.
If she could have given even a tenth of that love to her, perhaps she wouldn’t have felt so helpless and sad back then.
"Your sister is not going to make it..." Mei Suqin wiped her tears, "Your father is still in the hospital..."
Mu Yiliang felt her heart sink.
"Is she ill?"
"Uremia..." Mei Suqin began to sob, "When it was discovered, it was already too late, all other methods have been exhausted, but nothing worked. The doctor said the only option left now is a kidney transplant..."
Mu Yiliang furrowed her brows, "Is it money that’s lacking, or a matching kidney?"
"Money is not lacking at home!" Mei Suqin suddenly looked up at her, her gaze somewhat terrifying, "But your father and I have been looking for a matching kidney source for a month now, to no avail! Neither your father nor I are suitable..."
